United Methodist Women
Our unit of United Methodist Women is a community of women whose
PURPOSE is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons
through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship;
and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the
global ministries of the church. We are a community of women who
are faithful, purposeful, supportive, responsive, global, and
unique! Our group participates in mission education, spiritual
growth, and social action with a continuing focus on the needs of
women and children around the WORLD. Any woman may join regardless
of denomination.
We meet on the 1st Tuesday of each
month (except December) at 7:00 pm. Please
contact the church for information.
Who is a United Methodist Woman?
A United Methodist Woman is one who expresses a desire to become a
member of United Methodist Women and commits herself to the PURPOSE
of the organization. While every woman is encouraged and
welcome to join United Methodist Women, membership in a local church
does not automatically insure her membership in the Organization.
For each woman, this is a personal choice.
Membership can be expressed in one or more of the following ways:
- Attendance of meetings
- Meaningful community involvement
- Support of global mission through study and undesignated
giving
- Accepting leadership responsibility
- Participation in varied projects and concerns
- Use of Prayer Calendar, Response Magazine
- Intercessory Prayer
A woman who fulfills any of the above membership requirements
belongs to the United Methodist Women and should be counted among
the membership of a unit. A woman's name should remain on the
membership roll until she asks that it be removed. Pastors are
also counted among the membership of UMW. Membership in UMW is an
opportunity for spiritual growth, and it allows us to express our
faith through our prayer, our talents, and our gifts.
